The Appeal Of Oriental Bedding
For many years Europeans have been interested in the Eastern cultures and the traditions that come with them. Recently we have seen an increase in the influence of the Orient in many areas of Western culture, such as film and fashion. One huge area where Oriental influences are having an impact is in the homes of Europeans. This article examines the style of bedding from three Asian countries to help you decide which best suits your tastes.
The Chinese Option
If you wish to introduce a Chinese vibe to your bedroom then you have two obvious choices. The first and perhaps the most obvious option is to opt for a red bed cover, using highly decorative pillows as a way of adding detail. The second option is to go for a quilt that is made from Chinese brocade silk, which will usually sees designs combined of rich golds, reds and greens.
A Japanese Influence
Unlike the more obvious and extravagant Chinese designs, Japanese bedding tends to be more simple. A Zen-like feel can be achieved in your bedroom by going for light browns, greens and beiges to add a natural feel. It is important to keep the bed linen very minimal in order to create a calming atmosphere - lots of pillows and ornate designs are not what are needed here.
A Thai Flavour
Nothing is more luxurious than hand woven silk and Thailand is renowned for producing top quality silk items. A feeling of nature can be reached within the bedroom when choosing bedding made from Thai silk. This would work especially well alongside a bed made from bamboo and finished off with some decorative pillows also made from Thai silk.
